And there is more news besides: again this year HERO Südtirol Dolomites will be a lead partner of Eurobike, the leading world cycling fair which be held over the end of August and beginning of September in Friedrichshafen. As well as the next edition of the HERO being presented in detail it will be possible to experience the thrills of the HERO in 4D thanks to a virtual reality experience!
The 2017 HERO Südtirol Dolomites was a cauldron of emotions and which saw a double Italian victory: Juri Ragnoli from Brescia and Elena Gaddoni from Ravenna. It was a really hot summer day which was witness not only to the exploits of the top bikers but of all HEROes coming from a total of 45 countries, who after hours of effort reached the finish line. Of note was the number of Italians finishing the race, a number which established a record for the number of ‘Italian finishers’ in a long distance mountain bike race.
Already the talk is of who will take over from Ragnoli and Gaddoni as HERO champions, a race which enjoys premier status in world cycling. 4018 participants will line up on Saturday 16 June 2018 and compete over either the 86 or 60 kilometre routes with respective altitude differences of 4500 and 3200 metres. The spectacular scenery makes it an even more magnificent occasion: the Sella Group in the heart of the UNESCO Dolomites, passing over the historically famous passes of Gardena, Campolongo, Pordoi, Duron and Sella.
So as not to miss out on taking part make a note in your diary for Wednesday 13 September 2017. At 20:00 hours in fact the registrations for the 2018 HERO Südtirol Dolomites will open and it will be the moment to secure your place in this great race!
